France Médias Monde, the group that brings together France 24, the 24-hour news channel (in French, English, Arabic and Spanish), RFI, the world radio station (in French and thirteen other languages) and Monte Carlo Doualiya, the universalist language radio station, has a mission to contribute to the dissemination and promotion of the French language, French and French-speaking cultures, and the influence of France in the world.
France Médias Monde’s ambition was to renovate its two television studios in order to optimise television broadcasts recorded at its headquarters in Issy-les-Moulineaux, and it chose to work with our teams.
Our teams worked in 5 areas.
- Engineering and design tailored to the customer’s requirements.
- Project management, including coordination of the various specialists in the following areas: furniture, flooring, lighting and audiovisual.
- Site supervision.
- Ordering, installing and configuring the LED screens.
- Overall commissioning.
Installing the flooring required a great deal of work, orchestrated by Kardham’s Design & Build department: excavation down to the concrete slab, stabilisation, creation of a load-bearing structure for the floor, installation of the slabs and integrated hatches providing access to the connections throughout the lifetime of the studios.
Various configurations have been devised to suit the multiple formats of the channel’s broadcasts: furniture arrangements made up of removable tables, screen calibrations and brightness adjustments for optimal viewing.
A mechanism enables the LED screens to be moved around seamlessly, as part of a scalable structure made up of configurable modules that can be assembled to create several walls of images.
A number of players were involved in the project: LCH Concept for the audiovisual furniture, EuroLight System for the lighting, Kardham for the flooring and Avenir for the structure. Leyard Europe supplied the screens, which were manufactured in Europe using the latest technology.
Meticulous planning and coordination were required to orchestrate these interventions in an extremely short timeframe, in synchronisation with studio availability and in anticipation of the channel’s resumption in September 2023.
